WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. – John J. Mason, a resident of Wappingers Falls, died Tuesday, July 12. He was 77.
Born Feb.15, 1939, in Auburn, he was the son of the late William and Eloise Barrett Mason.
He was a proud U.S. Army veteran. He was a retired corrections officer at Mattawan, Fishkill and Ogdensburg correctional facilities for more than 35 years. He enjoyed gardening, plants and animals. His greatest joy was his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Stephen Powers, Gail Morgan and Paul Powers; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was predeceased by his wife, Helen; one brother; and one sister.
Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home, 1028 Main St., Fishkill. There will be a funeral service at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with interment to follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
